Ashley-Anne and Jason's love story is a Nicholas Sparks novel come to life. They met in high school, but didn't give each other much thought since they ran in different social circles. They became reacquainted during orientation week at Furman University, Greenville, SC with sparks flying immediately. After a somewhat tumultuous first year, they were inseparable until graduation. Jason would be serving our country in Germany and Ashley-Anne would also be serving through the Teach for America program in Florida. Though the distance was paramount, their love for each other was steadfast and strong. Ashley-Anne spent part of her summer vacation with Jason traveling around Europe. On a gondola in Rome, he asked her to be his forever.

Timing and distance were still an issue when it came to planning and setting a date. Although Ashley-Anne always dreamed of a summer wedding, Jason was not available until December. With the preppy, modern summer wedding out of reach, she turned to me to help design a  romantic, glitzy winter wedding. It was important to her that the wedding was full of personal details that celebrated their story.

It was my challenge to come up with a design that was romantic and glitzy, but in a modern minimalist sort of way. We kept the color palette soft and muted and kept the floral selection simple with roses and hydrangeas. Instead of ignoring the season, we embraced it by using lots of candlelight and reflective elements.

The ceremony was held on December 22, 2012 at Glassy Mountain Chapel in Landrum, SC. The views were breathtaking. We didn't want to over design the chapel because it was so naturally beautiful.

The celebration continued in the Gold Ballroom at the Westin Poinsett Hotel in Downtown Greenville, SC. One of my favorite moments was the father/daughter dance. The uber fun and talented 7Once band customized a version of Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby" to be from the father to his daughter - so super sweet! Plus, Ashley-Anne's father has got serious moves! In fact, later in the night, he was teaching guests how to do "The Worm!"
